CASE STUDY · GOODWOOD

A piece of the forest, straight to your cart

For GoodWood, a woodworking studio in Bardejov, we built an online store where wooden lamps, clocks and tables made from naturally shaped wood stand out the way they deserve – on a dark background, with the story of the craft and a clear path to custom orders.

The client and the brief

GoodWood makes one-of-a-kind wooden home accessories in Bardejov: table and floor lamps, clocks, candle holders, bowls and tables. Most pieces start from naturally shaped wood, which the studio only refines and often combines with resin. The brand’s slogan sums it up perfectly: “There’s only one original.”

Products like these don’t sell through a spec sheet. Customers need to see the wood, its texture and the light a lamp casts, and they should know who’s behind each piece. Besides finished pieces, the studio also makes things to order, so the website has to sell and collect inquiries at the same time.

What we designed

We built the store on WordPress with WooCommerce. The hero is a dark photo of a forest and a round logo with tree rings and the brand’s slogan. Below it is a short line, “A piece of the forest in your home,” and two clear paths: Shop or Made to order.

The dark background is no accident. The warm tones of the wood glow against it (literally, in the case of the lamps), and the product photos don’t have to compete with colorful design elements. The graphics stay in the background – the wood is the star.

The “Our Story” section tells how a boy who watched his father in the workshop became a maker himself. He built his first dining table in 2018. A story like this sells better than any advertising slogan, because customers know who they’re buying from.

How the website works

  • Categories built around what customers look for. Lamps (table and floor), clocks, candle holders, tables, bowls and decor each have their own category in the menu.
  • Picks from the workshop on the homepage. Selected products with prices; discounted pieces carry a Sale tag with both the original and the new price.
  • Made to order. A button leads to a contact form, so customers can describe what they’d like without unnecessary phone calls.
  • Gallery and blog. The gallery shows more finished pieces, and the blog makes room for news and articles.
  • Contact without searching. Phone hours, a “Write to us” form and the store operator’s details are right on the homepage.
  • Mobile. On a phone, the logo, the short text and the Shop button stay on the first screen, and products follow one below the other in large photos.

The result

GoodWood has an online store where it sells its original pieces and collects inquiries for custom work at the same time. The shop, gallery, brand story and contact details are all in one place. And the design does the most important thing: it lets the wood shine.
