When people hear UX design, most of them picture modern visuals, icons and nice colors.
But UX (user experience) isn’t about aesthetics – it’s about the user’s experience, and that starts before anyone even clicks.
UX isn’t a “nice to have,” UX is a must. If people leave your website without taking any action, you may have design – but you don’t have UX.
What is UX?
UX = user experience = how people experience your website.
It’s about:
- how visitors feel on your website,
- how quickly they find what they need,
- whether they know what to do,
- and whether they even want to keep talking to you.
UX connects:
- psychology (user behavior),
- marketing (a clear path to conversion),
- design (clarity, consistency),
- and technology (speed, functionality).
UX vs. UI – what’s the difference?
- UI (user interface) = the visual look (colors, shapes, typography, layout)
- UX = the functional and strategic experience (what I click, where and why)
👉 UI is about how it looks.
👉 UX is about how it works and why anyone would use it at all.
5 UX mistakes companies make most often:
- ❌ Poorly thought-out navigation – users get lost within 5 seconds
- ❌ Too many options – instead of action, you get paralysis
- ❌ Missing or badly placed CTAs
- ❌ Unclear language – too much internal jargon
- ❌ A website that isn’t adapted for mobile (which today is suicide)
How do you approach UX strategically?
- Create a user journey map – from the first click to conversion.
- Every block on the page should have a clear function (e.g. inform, persuade, activate).
- Test – even small changes to the copy or the CTA color can improve results.
- Work with data – look at Hotjar recordings, scroll depth, bounce rate.
- UX isn’t just the designer’s job – it’s a team effort: business, content, analytics, development.
Why does UX matter?
- 💸 It increases conversions without increasing ad spend
- 💬 It reduces user frustration
- 🧠 It builds trust and a professional impression
- 📱 It ensures everything works on all devices
- ⏱️ It saves visitors time (and therefore you too)
UX is more than design – it’s the deciding factor in whether a user takes action or not.
And when UX is done well, users might not even notice – because everything works the way it should.
